Hello, everybody!! I have been doing a bunch of really fun Japan events lately, so I just wanted to share about them with all of you. Let’s start with a few days ago on April 3rd…
My dad took me to a Japanese cultural area to see what was left of the blooming sakura! While they were already mostly gone, I was still so overjoyed to get to finally experience them in person!
It was such an exciting experience especially because I identify so deeply with cherry blossoms! They have been my favorite flowers for years now; mostly due to my love for Japanese culture. In retrospect, I’m kind of glad that I saw them at the end of their season because a guy today told me that, during their prime, the place was a FREAKING ZOO!!
Later on, we ended up looking at some other nearby gardens! There, we saw tons of other beautiful flowers! We ended the evening with a big dinner at a fancy Italian pizza place and looking at the ocean! It was such a beautiful experience indeed (.. minus the fact that I got into a big fight with my sister lol).
Today, some people from my college and I went to a Japan cultural convention! We all had such a great time today! It was totally packed, but I still made the most of it!! … and spent way too much money. Oopsie.
I really loved looking at all of the vendors’ stands! I saw so much artwork and I couldn’t help myself from buying some (most notably a little crochet sakura plant in a vase and some cute stationary)! I also splurged and bought a giant plushie My Melody purse. Totally worth it! My dad really is right about me needing to stop spending, though..
I also tried some amazing food! I tried wagyu steak for the VERY first time! I know that it was crazy expensive (two teeny little skewers for $50), but it was truly the best steak that I have ever had in my entire life. Ever. My mouth still waters whenever I remember it.
After eating the steak, I visited a cute little Korean cafe stand and got myself a tiny ube dessert and a matcha drink! When I say that this stand had adorable food, I mean that they really truly did.
Overall, the day was amazing! I loved all of the shows they put on! I also saw a lot of people in beautiful kimonos!! I wish I wore one, lowkey.. But those aren’t even the best parts! I got a lot of comments on my gyaru makeup today!! Even Japanese people recognized it and told me that they loved it. One older woman shouted “GYARU!!!”, ran over to me, squeezed my arm, and told me that she thought I was “so cute!!”. I told her that I was so grateful she loved my style! It really made my day. I felt so validated, to be honest. All of my insecurities just faded away in one moment!
Well, that’s about it. I’ve had such a great time and preparing for the study abroad trip to JAPAN has been SO MUCH FUN!! I’m literally so hyped. On top of everything that’s happened today, I’m also going to MY VERY FIRST GAL MEET a week from today!! THE HYPE IS REALLLLLL!!!!!
Until later! :P ~
