Today, the woman my dad is seeing came over to hang out with us! I have been pretty excited for it since we've had these plans for about the last week or so. Her plan was to come over and teach my sister and I how to make a big Japanese dinner... And that is exactly what she did!
After getting situated, introducing her to Butter (my little baby girl), and chatting for a bit, we were all hungry. The plan was to make California rolls and then some yakisoba! ~ Needless to say, we started with the Cali rolls since we don't need to worry about them going cold.
The process of making the sushi was fun, but a bit tedious at times! I remember worrying that my roll was too big. Well to be fair, it was pretty big, but it ended up not really mattering in the end. I was also pretty scared that I would mess up rolling it, but I ended up not!
It was a pretty cool experience! Even better because the Cali rolls ended up tasting much better than anything I’d get in a restaurant.
After making the sushi, we worked together to make the yakisoba! The first thing we did was cut up and assemble the different ingredients.
... Then we threw them together and cooked them in the pan!
After everything we finished making the food, my family and I prepared everything on the dinner table! I still remember how much my stomach growled by this point heh. I'm also pretty proud of myself for making my jasmine green tea when I did because it was cool enough to drink by the time we ate!
... And what would dinner be without my little girl?
We all had a great night! My dad's (kind of?) girlfriend gave me the apron, too, since I complimented it! I rejected it out of politeness, but she insisted I have it since I loved it so much. I ended up just accepting it.
Before the night ended, we all played one last game of Yahtzee (a family tradition of ours). I was pretty sad to see her leave, but I can't wait to see her again soon!
